Does anyone here work or study Geographic Information Systems?

My son will be going into Grade 12 in the fall and is thinking about a career in GIS. He was looking at applying to the U of C Faculty of Science in the Geography program. Does anyone here by chance have this degree?

He also says there is an Applied Bachelor of GIS through SAIT. Does anyone know anything about this program? Any opinions on what would be better, U of C or SAIT?

What do you think of this as a career in general?
