I was at the game last night, and even though the hitmen were sub-par the first 2 periods, there were a lot of officiating decisions going the way of Kootenay. Missed hooking and crosschecking calls, and pretty much every close call going to the Ice. First 2 periods guys like Lang, Peterson, Padakin looked good up front, the rest were patchy at best. A few of the fans near me were speculating that Virtanen hurt his hand in that fight a few games ago, as he has been shuttled down to lower lines and less icetime in the past few games.
That call on the goal at "19:59" of period 2 was blown. The goal judge jumped the gun. The clock was at 0.0 before anyone else reacted. The refs on the ice, you could tell, once that replay went up on the jumbotron, knew what the fan reaction would be, but since it was called a goal, the guys upstairs have to overrule. If they claim the official clock did not match the video clock, then they can't overrule. The longer it went on, the more we all had a sinking feeling that they would give the goal, and with all the borderline and missed penalties, everyone was screaming conspiracy
3rd period was awesome - hitmen started making checks, first times all game they got to Reinhart, but it was too late
