Brodie has really taken steps every year since he turned pro.
Why have some pundits changed their opinion on the length of the Flames rebuild?
Brodie/Backlund/Bouma/Colborne all have taken big steps
Monahan looks like a cornerstone player
Granlund/Wotherspoon/Reinhart/Knight/Ferland/Ortio all with very solid pro seasons
That's not even mentioning Gaudreau, Arnold, Gillies, Poirier, Klimchuck, Kulak, Culkin
Gio/Stajan/Grats/Glencross/Cammy/Hudler all seem like great veterans to have around a rebuilding team
Lastly Ramo has lived up to the hype Feaster gave when he traded for him. It took time but he is a legit NHL goalie who has looked great for the last couple months when he has played.
I have loved this season so much as a fan because there are finally pieces that have long term value. There are also assets to go after big name players if/when they are available via trade. I really hope the flames continue to battle but outside the games against the Leafs and Nucks I hope they lose by 1 goal and get into that top 3. Ekblad, Reinhart, or Bennett would be fantastic.
