As others have noted earlier, and other's noted on other sites, the elbow comes up in the followthrough, which gives an indication that a lot of the force is going through the arm as he follows through the hit. So with his upright body position, and the follow through that occurred, it could easily be concluded that the force of the hit was distributed through his entire arm, from his shoulder to his elbow.
