But again its not the same. He was recruited by that specific coach. That's how recruiting for the NCAA works, coaches recruit hard and sell these kids hard. It happens frequently in other sports (basketball, football) that when a coach leaves a program, players, even ones already at that program, will transfer elsewhere, or committed players will decommit and go elsewhere. It's just part of the process. If that coach for instance had gone to the University of Michigan rather than the NHL, Gaudreau probably goes to the University of Michigan too. He was loyal to the coach who recruited him, not the university itself.
I can see why people are afraid, because it happened with Schultz and others. But those were outliers and not the norm.
