In terms of it being an interview, she was asked a question and shared how she felt. It is not like she is trained by a PR team on how to respond to questions like the players are.
Is what his mom is saying right? Maybe, maybe not. Is it a stance that I could see many parents having, especially with another son on the team? Yup.
I just don't think we need to start jumping to conclusions and reading between the lines that this is some conspiracy by Gaudreau's mom to cover up her sons feelings and take the bullet for him wanting to stay another year.

I totally disagree. I think they are saying the right things like all athletes/parents of athletes do to get the best out of the situation. Do you honestly think that they don't know of the financial implications of this? I think they do. I agree that there is a bit of an over reaction to these quotes by his mother, but I totally disagree that they don't know what they are doing. Like any other opportunity, people have a plan.
