Oh I am well aware of that, but I think the writers are probably either forced to curtail their storylines towards what the show wants, and not viceversa. So ever since the show began the comics have been changed and are now geared more towards what the show writers (or the comic writers) believe will work in television format. Surely everyone involved makes more off the show then off the comics, especially when people are buying the comics and graphic novels only because of their fondness for the show.

This I think is a major reason why the setting and characters haven't really changed that much, whereas in a comic they would be more likely to change in shorter amounts of time
