there is more to this story for sure.
random crimes are random. It has nothing to do with Kijiji. If all the guy was after was a phone and some cash he could just mug any random person on the street. Why go through the hassle of contacting on kijiji and meeting up with somebody just to get a phone??. Just go on a street corner and mug the first person that looks remotely well off and you get your phone and whatever else they're carrying. I don't know how doing this over kijiji makes it easier for a criminal to get you. I could see as a seller, you sell something big and get the guy to bring a lot of cash then the buyer with cash gets mugged. But that's not what happened here.
I'm suspecting that the guy that got stabbed might not be telling the entire story.
