NaBH4 + 2H2O → NaBO2 + 4H2
The catalyst is apparently is propritary though.
Interesting, like you said though cost is an issue. I can by 2kg of sodium borohydride for about $650 for use in the lab and that isn't exactly feasible for general usage.
