To me the most important quality of a synthetic oil if you are going for long intervals is the shear strength. It matters not for me if the oil is still in good shape after 7000 kms if it has sheared to a lower grade. If you are running a turbocharged engine or performance engine that say requires 5W-30 you don't want oil that won't last past 5000 kms without sheering to closer to a 5W-20 grade.
