From the wiki it looks like really bad etiquette on the mod's part to not at least tell the other Mason the ambiguity of the other Mason's allegiance assuming the latter was part of the mafia.

He was also the first to vote (and revote) for Drake. Like I said, could be positive signs saying he's been lucky picking the right guys from the beginning.
Or the mafia's trap is just that deep.
