I'm not too familiar with the CBA, but is there any rule against signing a player, and then working out a deal with another team to trade him to that team for a draft pick and retaining salary?
So lets say Flames work out a deal with another team, where the Flames will sign Cammy to a $6M deal, and then immediately trade him to another team, while retaining $3M of the salary, and getting a draft pick back in return for absorbing part of the cap. Is there some sort of cap circumvention rule against this?
