Like others have said, it was a good thing for him to go when we found out that rebuilding was the answer for the Flames. It doesn't make sense to hold onto him if he is still trying to win a cup. Winning a cup was out of the question after the 09-10 season.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for him to come back and be our 3rd line RWer once he wins the cup with another team first. His veteran presence would be awesome for these young Flames. But for now, it was a good thing for him to leave the Flames organization as he chases that cup dream.
Just because he doesn't play his whole season with us, doesn't mean we don't think of him any different. He will always be my favorite Flame of all time.
