I think the fact that he went to a team like Pittsburgh who were pretty stacked, and still got their arse handed to them the way they did may have opened up his eyes a bit as to what it takes to win in the NHL these days. He couldn't look at his team mates and say their weren't as talented as the other team like he could in Calgary.
He used to be a fierce competitor under Daryl Sutter, but somewhere in the Keenan years he got a bit focused on scoring and away from playing as hard in all three zones consistently. He looks like he's back to buying in to playing well in all three zones, and it's starting to deliver a lot more offence as his team wins. He is playing like a leader again, but the culture of that play is well established in Boston and he's following the blue print again. In Calgary, that blue print got lost somewhere and it wasn't being followed that way.
Glad to see him playing well and making an impact on a good team. For years we were told how he was washed up and would be a 3rd or 4th liner on most other NHL teams. He's still a legitimate top line player, not the player he was, but still a good forward to have on a team that has that culture ingrained in them.
