you would think that more developers would find a way to use this model (although at a more agreeable price point). You could offer a couple of hours of play for a small fee and then offer credit for that amount on the full purchase. It could all be tied to gamertag so that any achievements or trophies would carry forward. done electronically, it offers quick distribution at limited costs, while providing project funding and gamer input and interest months ahead of launch.
