Gaudreau can play his game against grown men in the NCAA because most of them are slow and unskilled. In the NHL, he won't have the luxury of dancing away from opponents. In fact, he's not even an elite skater speed-wise.
The NCAA is still a second-tier development league. Take a minute and look up the history of NCAA scoring leaders and Hobey Baker winners: it's a who's who of guys you've never heard of before.
