As far as the book, saying it's "quite the departure" doesn't really cover it. The only thing it has in common with the book is the title and zombies. It's as much a departure from the book as it is a departure from, say, War and Peace.

Makes me want to read the book then. Yeah, I'm not saying the movie was groundbreaking, but I found it entertaining...it's zombie movie.
