Yeah but they had Stealth helicopters.. Big difference there.
With that said, if you fly in an established commercial/civil air corridor at a prescribed altitude that is usually flown by commercial aircraft (i.e. FL380) then most likely you will be ignored since they won't see it as anything unusual. Especially in the middle of the night...
I'm sure that the pilots of MH370 would have known this and would have taken advantage of it.
