What puzzles me is at the end of the episode where Rick had to get out of the house, as soon as a walker started attacking the guys inside the house, they said "Stop her!" and then "Kill her! Kill her!" If Rick killed the guy upstairs and he turned, wouldn't they have been saying "stop him", etc?
I noticed it before, but figured we were done with these guys and chalked it up to a writting mistake.

I watched both of those episodes back to back. My theory is that the timelines are intentionally out of sync. So the Darryl/Beth story line is happening a few days before the "group" runs into Rick at the house.
Darryl is forced to join the "group" (as shown in the last episode) and they find the house that Rick is passed out in. Then when the guy that Rick kills turns, it's how Darryl escapes and finds Rick/Michionne.
Just my theory for how it all unfolds.
