Their team batting stats are very impressive: .299 batting average (1st in MLB by a considerable margin), .492 slugging % (also 1st in MLB), 3rd in doubles, 4th in home runs, 5th in runs scored, 1st in sacrifice flies, and dead last in strikeouts (233, by far the fewest). I think the last number is the most impressive -- they hit for power, but not at the expense of strikeouts. This has allowed Gibbons to hit-and-run A LOT, even with guys like Molina on-base (as he did last night).

I think they're legitimate contenders if they can:
a) keep their pitchers healthy,
b) get a strong 2nd half from Burnett
c) get servicable middle relief from Frasor, Chulk, Speier, and Scho.
