I'm probably in the minority here but I've always thought that "the best team ever" rosters should be assembled the same way as a contending team preparing for the full season and playoffs. That means a good mixture of skill, size, offensive and defensive awareness, leadership and grit. Some of the line combinations and teams above are IMHO suitable for the all star game only.
This is the team that in my opinion would be successful in the long run:

Roberts - Nieuwendyk - Fleury
Loob - Gilmour - Iginla
McDonald - Otto - Nieminen
Patterson - Yelle - McGrattan/S.McCarthy/Hunter
+ Peplinski, Makarov, Mullen, Simon, Nilsson

MacInnis - Suter
Regehr - Giordano
Reinhart - Musil
+ Macoun, Housley, Gauthier

Kiprusoff
Vernon
