The alcoholic beers you're thinking of are probably La Fin du Monde and Maudite. Both are over 10%, I believe.

I think Maudite is 8%, La Fin du Monde is 10% and the newer one from Unibroue is Trois Pistole which is 12% if I remember correctly. Never really liked any of them because they have a potent aftertaste.
A really good one I've tried lately is Grolsch. It's a lighter beer from Poland or Holland or something but it was tasty.
As for Belgian beers, I can't really stomach more than a pint of them at a time. The Chimay Cap's are alright but extremely fruity tasting (pretty much the same as most Belgian beers) and Delirium is simply terrible. The amount of sedimentation is sickening, I highly recommend not pouring it out of the bottle if you have to try it. At least then you don't notice the chunks in the bottom because the bottle has a stucco type coating you can't see through.
