Well, if you weren't trying to be funny, then you missed his point. He was explaining when in the flight crashes typically happen, aka just after take off or just before landing.
Judging by how obvious his point is, though and how irrelevant it is that crashes technically happen at the last second, I'd imagine you went for a joke, realized it pissed everyone off and then tried to pretend it wasn't.
