I agree totally. Flames management at the time was in a total shambles and this was during the era when it was not even known if hockey would survive in some Canadian cities.

And for those who only remember how he left, and not how he played, and what he accomplished as a Flame, well check out his acceptance speech when he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and listen to how he speaks and acknowledge his fellow players, his coaches, the Flames owners, Cliff Fletcher and the like.

Nieuwendyk was the real deal, awesome player, one of the best centers the Flames have ever had suit up, and a gentleman through and through.
