The reality is, Gaudreau would most likely be mandated to play, but nobody else. What that means is Arnold, Agostino, Poirier, Kulak, etc. would be playoff depth and practice guys. Ward's unlikely to take a guy like, say, Poirier and insert him into the lineup right away before someone who has worked his ass off in the AHL all year. Not only that, but it'd be incredibly unfair to take one of the current guys out of the lineup and replace him with a junior/college guy.

But again, there's no way the Flames' management doesn't mandate Gaudreau to play. The rest of the guys will still get an ample amount of experience just being in the AHL around professional players and coaches as well as running through an AHL practice.
I would think the college guys are more developed and thus more ready to step in right away. Agostino, Arnold and Gaudreau would have the edge on their CHL counterparts. Unlikely Ward wouldn't use them IMO. Poirier may get some games if his team finishes early enough as well.

Isn't the Heat depth an issue? Now you think they should hold out reinforcements?
