Crosby is the closest thing to a generational talent this generation, but I don't know if he is that head and shoulders above everyone else. The gap between him and other players isn't nearly as big as it was when looking at "generational" players like Gretzky and Orr. I am not even sure if I would put him in Lemieux territory in terms of where he is relative to his peers.

It is of course partly because the whole upper tier of talent is more competitive now than it used to be. The whole notion of a "generational" talent is becoming obsolete.
