I've been saying it late last season and early this season that Butler is actually not that bad. He is not a top defensive pairing nor 2nd pairing. He is more fit as the last pairing not playing a lot of minutes. Him playing less minutes means the tendency to make mistakes is lesser. Someone even gave me a hard time when i mentioned he was playing well at one time. Ever since we have everyone on defense back Gio-Brodie, Wideman-Smid and Russell-Butler pairings, he's been improving and he's even willing to help out his teammates. He still makes mistakes but not as much though. I really think the reason Burke did not trade him was because Burkie thinks Butler will re-sign with this team. If I am Butler I would. Where else can he get the minutes he's playing right now? He's even playing with a good D partner.
