NASCAR is weird, they went away from their true fans in the south. They went away from great tracks to cookie cutter tracks in areas that they shouldn't be in the attempt to broaden the horizon.
Then they told drivers that they were no longer able to touch another car and thousands of fans stopped watching and going to races. They allowed them to "take the gloves off" last year and this year are back into playing with mittens on.
I like NASCAR but not a die hard fan, I've been to Talladega and the circus of all the idiots is more fun than the race. 30-40 cars going 195-200 mph all within a half of a second of each other and 2-4 inches away from each other is intense. One screw up and someone can take out the whole field.
I like short track racing better than the super speedways, more bumping, more skill, just a better race.
I've been to INDY 500 and it's fun, but IMS is a terrible track to watch a race. you only get to see a short bit of the track. The NASCAR cars are LOUD compared to the INDY cars.
