The idea isn't brought to fruition by catering to the irrational detractors but rather beating them into submission. Alternatively, convincing the decisions makers and those that matter is a viable method.

The success of such spaces is dependent on much more than the addition of food carts, street performers, etc.. The quality of the urban design is what allows these features to flurish and the place to be successful.[/Jan Gehl]
