Is this really a true story as it's incredibly hard to just move to Indonesia. I had a customer in town in December from Australia that works for ExxonMobil living/working in Indonesia for a 3 year term. They have major issues trying to bring in trained people as the country is very protective about foreigners taking jobs in the country so a lot of these engineers spend their time making training manuals idiot proof for unskilled operators and techs because they don't like to bring in labour from the outside. Just to be able to live and work there he has to hire a full time Indonesian maid as well as driver. Even if he wanted to drive himself to work every day he would still have to pay a driver to wait at his house. I'm trying to figure out how a Canadian could just live on a hut on an island there.
