Not sure if this has been brought up before but additionally to the bad return the Nucks got from Luongo and retained salary, shouldn't the risk of him retiring before the contract ends be added to the costs? Wouldn't it result in an substantial cap hit for Vancouver if that happened?
He would be 42 by the end of his contract. Very few goaltenders play until that age so you would think it's a considerable chance the Nucks will get penalized for that contract.
