I see this as a significant possibility. Obviously Markstrom has bust risk, though I think less than has been suggested in this thread obviously. But he could be just... not an NHL netminder.

Meanwhile, sure, Lack is 5th in the NHL in save percentage and GAA this year. That's good. But it's one year and he's played less than half his team's games. People figure goalies out, even the good ones. Steve Mason should be proof enough of that (or Raycroft for that matter). And watching Lack, it seems to me that while he's fundamentally very good and covers a ton of net, he has trouble with traffic. Not that he lets out a lot of rebounds, but he's beatable on even weak shots off the ice when there's a crowd in front of him. He's basically hoping those pucks hit him - which they often do because he's a big dude. Watch Ballard's and Parise's goals here and you'll see what I mean.

He did, he netted an NHL roster player. Capable young 3Cs are nothing to sneeze at. Obviously it's not fair value, that goes without saying.

I think you have to separate the mess that Gillis put himself in from what he could reasonably have got given that mess. As of yesterday morning, this was the best that could have been hoped for in terms of the return.

What a terrible person.
The thing is he's nowhere NEAR the worst in the NHL at this, he just gets the press because of who he was playing for. Mike Smith is like ten times worse.
