The only thing we can blame Feaster for is not getting it in writing.
According to Chiarelli at the time, it is usually normal that a player submits a list of teams and signs an official waiver document stating that the player will accept a trade to any of those teams (i.e., the player does not get a last minute pick between those teams if there is more than one offer).
Feaster seemed to be under the impression that Iginla's word was enough and thought any of the teams on his list were acceptable. He thought this was mutually understood.
So yeah, Feaster dropped the ball there, but Iginla and Meehan played him for the fool and took advantage of the situation.
