Kim Novak is for the older crowd. I was watching it with my dad, and he couldn't get over how good she looked for 83 years old. He had to have known it was all plastic surgery, but still he loved her appearance. The only parts he liked more were The Wizard of Oz tribute and Bette Middler signing The Wind Beneath My Wings, in which he cried during both performances. So stuff like that isn't really for the young crowd, but for the people who remember all the performers from 50+ years ago. She was great in Vertigo btw, better than any performances you saw this year.
I still think there are way too many montages though. It's fine and dandy that they want to keep the short films and technical awards, but do they really need so many montages? You could tell even the people there were getting bored after 3+ hours and just wanted to get out of there. Small nitpick as well, but it was great how they showed clips from Jaden Smith's crappy Karate Kid remake, and nothing from the infinity superior Ralph Macchio version. Good taste Hollywood.... good taste.
