Unintentional tanking is the best situation for us right now. The team plays with lots of heart, but comes up short. Shows they're hungry to win, but outmatched by the opposition. It shows the answer lies with the GM and player personnel selections.
Ortio looked solid. Made good saves & has good rebound control. Last season I wrote him off when he went back to Finland, but he's back and posted .917 save % in his first game. That' same helluva lot better than Ramo or Berra did in their debuts!
Granlund got into some decent areas and got clear shots on target. Hard, fast release. Quick was more than a match for him tonight, but he was more than a match for everyone.
I want to see a few more games from both of our new Finnish kids.
Giordano and Backlund are leading by example. I hope they remain Flames for the foreseeable future. Hudler is always a factor, although not a gamechanger. Yes, he's one of our better players but if the offer is good he shouldn't be untouchable.
