It's another by-product of Microsoft's shoddy marketing research and development strategy. Microsoft has long been known to try to catch the competition. In the case of Kinect, Microsoft saw how well the Wii was doing and thought they'd make a boat load of money off of casuals by forcing Kinect bundling. Problem is they reacted way too late and a lot of the casuals had already moved onto mobile.
