I don't think he sacrificed his offensive game. Him and his line just had no finish, they were trying, they were just snake bitten and the juggling of linemates for him didn't give him any consistency.
When I watched Crosby play it was more him not being familiar with his line, and he just appeared to be out of place. He looked fine with Kunitz, but Kunitz didn't do much so it just trickled down the line.
MSL played well when I watched him. Hard to believe the pouting, but I don't know him, so don't really want to speculate on whether or not it's true.
