You seem to have invented the attitude that one wrong is better than another. You speed excessively, so people have to be courteous to you. Got it, great mentality.

It's hard to find the actual source, but I can tell you for a fact that (on the highway, at least) there is no listed fine for driving 10 km over the speed limit. You'd essentially have to be driving recklessly or have something wrong with your vehicle. Much the same with residential areas and going 55 (33-34 in a playground zone). Doesn't mean it's safe, simply means it's acceptable. So uh, source? Family member in law enforcement I guess.

Looking at it that way, you are right. And generally, if the person seems extra aggressive I'm not opposed to protecting myself through distance.
