Why would Cammalleri agree to a short term deal from the Flames? He's going to look at the best deal available in free agency on a competitive team. I think all this extension talk is lip service and he's good as gone.
As for trading Hudler I don't see the point unless the mandate next year is to finish 30th next season to get McDavid. One of the team's best goal scorers in Cammalleri will likely be traded in the next week and trading your leading scorer as well is a sure way to be next years Sabres. If that's what the team wants to do I'm okay with that but I don't think it is. Hudler has been good for Monahan and some of the other kids. I personally felt that Iginla would have developed faster had the team been able to keep Dave Gagner around to mentor him and just going all kids is way too much like the Oilers approach and the Flames young guns disaster.
