Glad you posted this. I am not sure that Burke is blowing smoke on re-signing Cammi. I think Burke is hoping to re-sign Cammy on a home town discount contract. I think Burke would like to get a A+ prospect into the system. Lets face it none of the rental players are bringing anything close to that. I keep reading that GM's don't want to give up much for a rental player and rather trade for a player with term. My gut tells me that if Cammi signs then Hudler gets traded at the deadline. I think Hudler has more value than any of our rentals. Also if Burke is serious about eating cap $, then imagine what they could get for Hudler if the ate half a million to a million on each year of Hudlers contract. At $3 million a year, Hudler would have a great return.

If the trend continues with teams wanting term instead of rental players at the deadline then they could trade Cammi in 2-3 years ( have to think that Cammi would not sign for anything less than 4 years). Granted this probably means nothing because i don't think Cammi is going to sign for below market value.
