There are many teams with simple, consistent and appreciated brands that consistently failed as well. Toronto being the most obvious example. Detroit, Chicago and the Rangers all had multi-decade periods of futility. True, but you also look across sports, and think of the most prominent teams, and majority of them keep a look everyone knows, that has remained the same for the most part over decades. Yankees, Red Sox, Packers, Giants, Celtics, Lakers. Even for teams that aren't as successful on the playing field as of late, still are one of the most prominent in the sports landscape; keeping financially strong. Rangers, Canadiens, Bruins, Cowboys.
