That theory works well in a game like hockey.
but when your coaching football, and you have a head coach, coordinators (2 to 3) position coaches (3 -6)
You might have a majority of level headed coaches and one ape flinging feces.
And if you have one, it doesn't take much to rile up the others.
And at a amateur level of football there aren't a lot of refs in the funnel and the ones who are there at some point get brutal.
Me - "Excuse me kind sir, but number 76 on the opposing team is illegally dancing with our defensive tackle, I was wondering if per chance you could keep a closer eye on this grievous injustice?"
Ref - "That's not holding"
Me - "Oh kind ad mighty official, the hands of that offensive lineman are to the outside of the pads, by any rules including the Westminster guide on good sports man ship that is indeed holding"
Ref - "Nah, I don't see it that way"
Me - "Hulk Smash"
