I could see that happening. I also think that if a team trades with the Sabres for that top pick and takes Ekblad, then the Oilers could also potentially trade down to take their guy if they think he's still going to be available (Dal Colle, Drasaitl....maybe even Fleury?)
Would it be worth it for the Flames to trade up? I don't know. It would depend on the price like you allude to. I think the top 5 are so close that it isn't really worth it, but that's just my opinion. I agree that it's likely going to cost more than a 2nd rounder. In fact, I think both teams would add to balance the trade.
