There are benefits to almost every deal. If the Penguins traded Crosby straight up for Mikhail Grigorenko, the Penguins get younger, bigger, and gain cap room. But open your eyes and this deal would be #### in every way.

It's about the right deal that makes sense and getting value and to do that you got to properly evaluate the return. O'Brien had two years left that pays him $2M dollars. That's #5 Dman money. If O'Brien can't fill that role the next two years for the Flames that's a poor deal. Sarich had one year left and given his experience he was easily tradable for a draft pick at the deadline and so was an asset. As for trading Tanguay for Jones, Tanguay is clearly still good enough to be a productive top 6 player, Jones clearly isn't.
