Oil companies will do other things for the Aboriginal people near their well sites and Oil Sands operations. For instance they might sole source goods and services from businesses owned by aboriginal people.
I am by no means an expert but I do know that a whole lot of time is spent negotiating with band leaders to come to agreements that work on both ends.
