Surprised nobody has mentioned Woody Allen movies.
I want to like them, I really do. The dialogue often seems forced and the characters reactions to situations often seem absurd even though it's intended to be an organic flow of dialogue and interaction. I often find myself watching his movies and thinking "do people in New York all talk and behave like this, surely they can't all be morons?"
The other thing I've noticed about Woody Allen movies is his dialogue tends to lead to some really bad paper-thin performances. I just watched Blue Jasmine and holy hell was the acting bad. He took two of my favorite people on the planet (Dice and Louis CK) and forever besmirched them in my mind. I had to watch some old Louis standup to wash away the Woody stink. Although, Kate Blanchett was absolutely amazing and frankly saved the movie from being a complete disaster. But other film makers and actors absolutely adore and worship Allen. I don't get it.
Allen seems to make the same movie over and over again. One or two would have been okay but enough already!
