Actions like this certainly do little to drum up sympathy from me although it seems to be effective with politicians in the East who would rather step on everyone else's rights, property then to tell these Native where they should stick their BS "protests."

Completely agree.... This happened in the distant past. The aboriginals in CAnada have basically a free-ride through the school system, health care system and once educated at subsidized jobs. You can be 1/8th native and be able to get the majority of your university tuition paid for. However, there is a majority that do not complete high school. There is only so much we can do to make up for the "indiscretions" of our ancestors.
It is about damn time that the chiefs of the individual tribes/reservations step up and show leadership instead of just getting fat off the government subsidies/cheques.
Throwing more money at the problem isnt going to help.
My solution is that to qualify for the government subsidies a young first nations must complete High School. High school is paid for, but if you drop out, you enter the system that everyone else is in (ie. the normal welfare route). You need to give incentives for the money, not just straight out subsidies.
