I can't understand how anyone could hate Fight Club, a film thoroughly brilliant on so many levels.
One of my top picks for atrocious movie that so many seem to like is The Dark Knight Rises. What a complete steaming pile of crap, it succeeded and is highly rated because of the previous two Nolan Batman films. People really really wanted to love the movie, and end up doing just that despite the fact that the movie is poorly acted, directed, has a bombastic score that tries to insert epic into moronic. I hope I never see a single frame of that movie again.
I have high hopes for
Interstellar, Christopher Nolan is a much better director than his mail in effort on TDKR. Unfortunately Nolan seems to be in love with certain actors and uses them whether they are a fit or not.
