I never said it was a bad movies, or that I even hated it, but I generally find it to be quite overrated (and not Fincher's best work). First off there is the movies treatment of women, as Marla is the only female presence in the movie. Beyond that Fight Club is another "cool" first world problem movie, that preaches why should we give a damn, and what's the point of everything? That's not something really new even though it tries to fashion itself into something that is. It's a tad preachy as well, and tries to stand against what the everyday man works to accomplish. It's a very bleak movie, and I didn't find myself giving a crap about the characters, and while it's well made it just wasn't something I found that interesting. It's really the movies outlook that I didn't enjoy. Not that I need something to be overly optimistic, but if he didn't really give a crap about anything then why should I care about him (or the movie)?
IMDB has it listed as the 10th best movie of all time, which is far too high. Top 100? Yeah that sounds about right, but top ten is too high for my liking. I prefer a movie like American History X over Fight Club quite honestly.
