Here is a breakdown of athletes by province:
  1. Ontario – 64 athletes (29%)
  2. Alberta – 56 athletes (25%)
  3. Quebec – 43 athletes (19%)
  4. B.C. – 27 athletes (12%)
  5. Saskatchewan – 14 athletes (6%)
  6. Manitoba – 10 athletes (5%)
  7. N.W.T. – 2 athletes (1%)
  8. Nova Scotia – 2 athletes (1%)
  9. Newfoundland – 1 athlete
  10. P.E.I. – 1 athlete
  11. Yukon – 1 athlete

Ontario, Albert and Quebec make up 73% of the athletes we send to the games. I am really proud that there are so many Albertan's there. Obviously, a lot has to do with the facilities being located here. It is also great for Quebec to pulling far above their weight.

I don't have a problem with Quebec winning medals for the whole of Canada. I am sure there are some athletes with separatist tendencies, but for the most part, I think these people want to be part of Canada and represent this country as a whole. Anyone that wants to be a part of Canada I welcome as brothers. Everyone I've seen win have been over the moon excited, and I've seen them interviewed on CBC and they seem like genuine Canadians.

Also, one other thing to consider is these Quebec athletes spend a lot of time in Alberta and other parts of the world competing. I think it is easy for them to understand how great it is to be Canadian.
